Lenten oat cutlets

I had never made oat patties until my mother shared this recipe. They were surprisingly tasty and filling, just what I wanted during Lent. For this first attempt I served them simply with ketchup and green beans. Next time, and there will be a next time, I will make a mushroom sauce.

STEP 6 — The mixture did not hold its shape well at first, so I added a spoonful of flour to keep the patties from falling apart in the pan. The photo shows the difference in consistency.
